Today was a PERFECT ATTENDANCE day for Second Grade! We celebrated with an extra recess on this beautiful fall afternoon!

Remember to check your school calendar - November looks a little different than usual. Students have school on three MONDAYS: November 9, 16, and 23. There will be NO SCHOOL on Friday, November 13, Friday, November 20, and November 25, 26, 27, & 30.

On Friday, October 30, students may bring a costume to put on at the end of the school day for our Halloween party and parade. Please send costumes only - no face paint/make-up or accessories (i.e., fake weapons, wands, baskets, etc.). We’ll have our classroom parties at 3:00 pm followed by a costume parade around the front lawn at 3:25 pm. Parents, please stand in the grass so students can use the sidewalk for their costume parade.

Today was another PERFECT ATTENDANCE day for FIRST GRADE! This is their third perfect attendance day so far this year! Way to go, first grade!

School Picture Day is coming up next week! Kindergarten, First Grade and Second Grade pictures will be taken Tuesday, September 29. Third and Fourth Grade pictures will be taken on Wednesday, September 30. Order envelopes will come home in Friday Folders tomorrow.

Morris Parent Action Committee (MPAC) is the parent/teacher organization for Morris Elementary School (MES). The first meeting of the year will be at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 23 in the MES cafeteria. Items of discussion include the Value Card fundraiser, as well as planning events for the 2026-2027 school year. All MES parents are welcome!

We celebrated a PERFECT ATTENDANCE day in kindergarten today! Popcorn on the playground and an extra recess because the entire grade level was PRESENT FOR LEARNING TODAY!

Old Threshers

Thank you Old Threshers Group the MES kids had so much fun on their visit today. Everyone learned so much and had a great time.

Morris Elementary students are heading to Old Threshers tomorrow! Each grade level will ride a bus over to the Old Threshers grounds and spend about an hour exploring stations and exhibits, guided by the fantastic Old Threshers' volunteers! We are so grateful for this local learning opportunity! Be sure to ask your students about it Friday after school and visit Old Threshers again this weekend!

The new school zone traffic law is in effect TODAY. The speed limit is 10 mph within 200 feet of school property. For the elementary/middle school campus, this zone is from Date Street to Hickory Street and Second Avenue to Seventh Avenue. School zones are in effect 7:00am-4:00pm on school days. Please slow down, stay alert, and help us keep our students safe!

Just ONE more day, MES! School starts tomorrow, and we are so excited to see you! Open House is this afternoon 4:00-5:30. Parents, if you'd like to see your child's classroom and visit with their teacher, this is the time. Tomorrow morning, parents will not go to classrooms with students. This is to help everyone transition into our school day as easily as possible.

Students eating breakfast at school should arrive at 7:30. If students eat breakfast at home, they should arrive by 7:45. Classes begin at 7:45, and students are late after 7:50.
